VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center is growing and is looking to welcome a full-time Veterinary Assistant to our Pre-Operative team. Requirements

Knowledge of common surgical and ophthalmic instruments—cleanliness, maintenance, and sterilization process
Time management: prepping multiple patients efficiently while maintaining safety and cleanliness
Compassion and patience with anxious pets
Calmness under pressure and adaptability in a fast-paced setting
Receptive to feedback and able to follow detailed instructions precisely

Responsibilities

Patient restraint & handling
Pre-anesthetic preparation: clipping and scrubbing surgical sites, ensuring cleanliness and correct anatomical margins
Laboratory sample handling
Understand sterile technique and surgical suite flow for surgery, neurology, and ophthalmology departments
Maintaining aseptic and sterile conditions in ORs and the sterile hallway
Maintain aseptic conditions in prep and holding areas
Proper disinfection of tables, instruments, and kennels
Biohazard and sharps disposal compliance
Strong teamwork and communication with technicians and DVMs
