About The Position

VCA Morris Plains Animal Hospital is looking for a dedicated and dynamic veterinary professional to join our one-of-a-kind team in a cross-trained hybrid role-combining the hands-on care of a Veterinary Assistant with the essential client-facing responsibilities of a Client Service Representative. Responsibilities

  • Providing compassionate care for patients in all interactions.
  • Preparing and verifying dispensed medications and in hospital administration.
  • Collecting and processing lab samples.
  • Performing venipuncture and placing IV catheters (advanced skill).
  • Conducting hands-free radiography (with sedation if required).
  • Preparing and administering vaccines and subcutaneous fluids.
  • Assisting surgical staff with surgical and dental procedure preparation, practice, recovery and clean up.
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed medical records through EMR systems.
  • Performing basic hospital maintenance including but not limited to: laundry, cleaning, restocking and organizing.
  • Client education and care through all phases of the client journey.
  • Communicating with pet owners with professionalism and empathy.
  • Greeting visitors, answering telephones, and guiding clients and pets to exam rooms.
  • Scheduling and confirming appointments.
  • Placing follow-up calls and reaching out to prospective clients.
  • Presenting and explaining fees, including processing payments.
  • Recommending, selecting, and dispensing products and services, including prescriptions.
  • Answering client questions regarding hospital services and general pet care (e.g., heartworm prevention, flea/tick control, housebreaking).
  • Managing medical records, charts, reports, and correspondence.
  • Maintaining hospital cleanliness and sanitation at all times, including removal of animal waste, to ensure a neat and welcoming environment both inside and outside the facility.
