About The Position
Senior Veterinary Assistant – Oncology Full-Time | 4/10 Rotating Schedule SAGE Veterinary Centers – Concord, CA $20-$34 per hour , based on experience and skill set $5.50/hour differential for hours worked between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM SAGE Veterinary Centers – Concord is hiring a Senior Veterinary Assistant to support our Oncology department. . This position is ideal for an experienced veterinary assistant who thrives in specialty medicine and is motivated to grow within a highly specialized oncology team. You will support oncologists and RVTs by assisting with treatments, patient care, diagnostics, and chemotherapy safety protocols in a collaborative, fast-paced hospital setting.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a clinical veterinary setting
- Specialty or emergency experience highly preferred
- Strong animal handling and technical support skills
- Willingness to train in oncology-specific procedures and protocols
- Professional, reliable, and detail-oriented

Responsibilities
- Assist with handling, restraint, and comfort of oncology patients
- Support chemotherapy administration and oncology treatments under supervision
- Adhere to chemotherapy safety and hazardous drug handling protocols
- Assist with diagnostic testing including bloodwork, urinalysis, and imaging
- Prepare treatment rooms and maintain cleanliness and organization
- Monitor patients during and after treatments and report concerns promptly
- Provide compassionate support to clients throughout the cancer care process
- Accurately document patient care and communicate with the medical team
- Assist veterinarians and RVTs during procedures and oncology rounds
