Requirements
- Associate degree from an AVMA CVTEA-accredited program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
- Three (3) years of practical experience within the veterinary field.
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), holding a current license, certification, or other designation required by local, state, or federal laws.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other computer applications.
Responsibilities
- Develop and evaluate daily lesson plans, incorporating scheduled activities and course materials.
- Plan instruction to meet specific objectives based on student needs and the established curriculum.
- Prepare engaging lectures and practical demonstrations for both group and individual instruction.
- Monitor laboratory competencies and confirm skill levels using checklists.
- Track student attendance and coordinate with the Program Director or Associate Director of Student Services for consecutive absences (two days in a row) or extended absences (more than four days in one sequence).
- Meet with students to encourage retention and support their success in the program.
- Maintain an 80% student success rate across all classes taught in the program.
- Assess student performance in coursework and activities, making necessary adjustments to support learning needs.
- Record and maintain student grades per established policies, and submit final grades at the end of each sequence to update records and transcripts.
- Ensure adherence to safety precautions while supervising students in the classroom and laboratory settings.
- Perform additional related duties as required.
