The Veterinary Assistant position at Puget Sound Veterinary Specialists & Emergency (PSVSE) involves providing essential support in an emergency and critical care setting. Responsibilities

• Client education and communication
• Triage of patients presenting to the emergency department
• Performing physical exams and obtaining vital signs
• Accurately relay patient's changing status to ER veterinarian
• Performing lab work and diagnostic imaging
• Placing IV catheters and performing phlebotomy
• Administering medications and monitoring therapeutic response
• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards
• Accurate medical record keeping
• Filling prescriptions

Requirements

• 1 year of veterinary experience strongly required
• High school diploma or GED required
• Medication Clerk License preferred, will help you obtain if not currently licensed
• A criminal background check will be required for all positions that handle controlled substances within our hospital
