About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an extraordinary Cardiology Veterinary Assistant! This position offers a pay range of $21.25 - $31.45 per hour, which is dependent on experience and advancement through the Kahuna leveling system. As a Cardiology Veterinary Assistant, you will assist the nursing team in providing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values. You will report patient signalment, problem list, and plan during nursing rounds, calculate basic medical math, understand the classification of commonly-used medications, administer medications, perform lab work, triage and obtain patient history, assist clinicians with diagnostic procedures, and provide patient care including treatments.

Responsibilities

• Assist the nursing team in providing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list, and plan during nursing rounds.
• Calculate basic medical math.
• Understand classification of commonly-used medications, associated side effects, and appropriately monitor therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform lab work.
• Triage and obtain patient history.
• Assist clinician with diagnostic procedures.
• Provide patient care including treatments.
• Prepare prescriptions and communicate discharge orders to clients.
