About The Position

Lovell Animal Hospital provides personalized care for cats, dogs, and some pocket pets, focusing on a patient-centric approach to exceed client expectations with thorough, knowledgeable, and compassionate pet care. The practice primarily treats cats and dogs, with a special affinity for guinea pigs and rabbits. The hospital is seeking to add another veterinarian to its existing 3-doctor team, which is supported by experienced technicians, assistants, and CSRs. The busy practice is well-equipped with digital radiology, in-house labs, ultrasound, and laser therapies. They are looking for an experienced veterinarian who enjoys surgery and dental procedures, and is prepared to manage a growing list of new patients. The role also welcomes candidates with an interest in expanding the surgical caseload. Both full-time and part-time positions are available. The hospital is located in west Knoxville, offering a blend of city action and peaceful lake communities.

Requirements

  • DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
