This position is critical to our mission and our strategic direction as an organization. We are looking for a veterinarian who wants to make a difference for the pets and people of our community by providing quality care to owned and shelter pets by helping to advance the organization's mission and being a team player with an incredible staff! The veterinarian must be able to perform well in an environment that can be hectic and challenging but ultimately is very rewarding. When working in the shelter, in concert with the management team, this position will work to manage medical care and health management programs for the shelter animals, including those temporarily in foster care, focusing on identification, treatment and prevention of health problems. Will perform surgical procedures on shelter animals, as needed, (spay/neuter, hernia repair, growth removals, dental extractions). Aids in the decisions of euthanasia for an animal, including performing euthanasia. This position will also help to ensure that staff are following herd health protocols and proper sanitation practices. When working in the clinic, this position will be responsible for practicing compassionate medicine and surgery as a vital member of a cohesive team of veterinarians and paraprofessionals managing the gamut of cases from routine preventive medicine to challenging outpatient medicine cases. This ideal professional will also be responsible for performing soft tissue surgeries including but not limited to tumor removal, cystotomy, cherry eye repair, amputations, routine dentistry, and spay/neuter.
