About The Position

The Veterinarian Technician is responsible for administering Lasix on race days and performing blood collection for TCO2 and out of competition testing as directed by HIWU. This role requires a commitment to maintaining accurate records regarding Lasix administration and assisting with other associated paperwork. The position is essential for ensuring the health and compliance of racehorses during their competitive events.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year experience in equine veterinary medicine
• Racetrack background preferred
• Ability to work a racing schedule typically Thursday to Sunday and some holidays
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to work at Belmont and Aqueduct (desire/ability to work Saratoga preferred but not required)
• Detail oriented and able to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment
• Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Proficient in online data management

Responsibilities

• Administer race day Lasix in the prescribed timeframe
• Perform blood collection on horses selected for blood gas/TCO2 and out of competition testing
• Maintain records regarding Lasix administration and assist with other associated paperwork
