About the position

The Medical Director at Veritas Veterinary Partners is a visionary leader and an integral part of our practice’s success. Combining clinical expertise with strategic insight, the Medical Director balances hands-on patient care with leadership responsibilities. This role drives clinical excellence, mentors the medical team, and ensures Veritas' standards for quality, collaboration, and compassion are upheld. The Medical Director spends a minimum of 50% of their time providing direct patient care, making this role both impactful and deeply connected to the core of veterinary medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Champion of Medical Quality and Compliance: Uphold the highest standards of clinical care, ensuring protocols are current, safe, and effective.
  • Mentor and Developer of Clinical Talent: Support veterinarians in their professional journeys and promote a learning-oriented environment.
  • Ambassador of Veritas’ Values and Mission: Promote an environment rooted in collaboration, expertise, and empathy.
  • Advocate for Client Experience: Ensure client interactions are marked by empathy, clarity, and trust.
  • Strategic Partner for Growth and Innovation: Advance the practice through strategic initiatives that enhance services and promote sustainable growth.
  • Lead the implementation of medical protocols, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with the Hospital Director to set and manage the hospital’s clinical budget.
  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition team to attract and retain veterinarians.
  • Set standards for client interaction, communication, and service excellence.
  • Ensure adherence to all clinical, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • DVM or VMD from an accredited veterinary school; board certification in a specialty is a plus.
  • Must hold a valid veterinary license and be in good standing within the jurisdiction of the practice.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, preferably in a specialty or emergency setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role, with strong mentoring, team-building, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Exceptional communication abilities with clients, referring veterinarians, and staff.
  • A strategic mindset with the capacity to identify growth opportunities, enhance patient outcomes, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Commitment to upholding high standards of quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to dedicate at least 50% of work hours to direct patient care.
