About The Position

The Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) Coordinator at Wor-Wic Community College is responsible for implementing and supervising the federal VUB program, ensuring that program goals and objectives are met. This role involves leadership, coordination of services for veterans, and direct support for participants, including advising and assistance with educational applications. The position may require evening and weekend work, particularly during registration and commencement events.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Three years of relevant work experience
• Computer, Microsoft Office, organizational, mathematical, and human relations skills
• Valid driver's license

• A master's degree in education, guidance and counseling, or a relevant field
• Prior experience overcoming barriers similar to those experienced by project participants

Responsibilities

• Assist the director of veterans services in implementing VUB grant requirements and provide leadership in the director's absence.
• Evaluate and supervise VUB staff, including the VUB advisor and instructors.
• Coordinate program services to meet the needs of VUB participants, including workshops and career exploration events.
• Manage the database of VUB service usage and student assessments, preparing monthly and annual reports.
• Provide direct services for students, including intake and advising for current and prospective participants.
• Coordinate with veteran-serving agencies for recruitment and referral of VUB participants.
• Assist VUB participants with applications for VA education, FAFSA, college admission, and military transcripts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
