About The Position

The essential function of the position within the organization is to assist in coordinating programs and activities of the County Veterans Service Office. Reports directly to and receives work assignments from the Office of Veterans Services Director. Under the direction of the Veteran Service Director, provides all clerical support serving as a professional liaison to Veterans and their dependents to help ensure clients receive the full benefits they are entitled to as Veterans, maintaining client records, and performing related administrative and clerical functions as assigned. Provides representation and advocacy services to Veterans and their dependents, assistance or referrals in claims for other services, promotes Veterans services, coordinates office functions with other agencies and makes referrals to various agencies as authorized. May be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned. The position works under general supervision according to set procedures. This position shall be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Requires Associate's Degree in Business, Social Services or other relevant field with three (3) years of related experience.
  • A county or city veteran service officer must be a veteran who served as a member of the Armed Forces of the United States and who was discharged or released from such service under honorable conditions, in accordance with Florida statutes.
  • Requires a valid Florida driver's license.

Responsibilities
