About The Position

Provide assistance and support to people experiencing homelessness to obtain and maintain employment by creating access to training programs, supported employment programs, and developing priority employment opportunities for our participants with local employers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field -OR- 2 years of experience in social services required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in assisting people with barriers to obtain employment.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a recruiter with employers in developing and providing access to employment and training programs for participants.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain paperwork in an organized manner.
  • Strong writing abilities.
  • Excellent computer skills. Demonstrated ability to use word processing, database, calendar, spreadsheet, e-mail, Internet, and graphic design programs.

  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual employability assessments with participants
  • Assist participants to mitigate barriers to employment via access to legal support or assistance with letters of explanation on negative work history and/or criminal history.
  • Organize and facilitate weekly employment-focused groups and classes.
  • Assist participants in obtaining job leads, updating resumes, and creating cover letters.
  • Work with case managers to include employment and education planning in goal planning and case plans.
  • In coordination with partners, assist participants in pursuing education goals such as General Education Development (GED) completion, vocational training, and/or college-level education.
  • Connect participants to community based employment resources.
  • Identify and develop partnerships with community employment resources and job developers.
  • Network with potential employers to create job placements and training opportunities.
  • Collect, enter, and analyze data, providing reports and statistical information as needed.
  • Participate in agency committees and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated leadership in and ability to develop relationships with community partners and employers to promote opportunities for participants.
  • Other duties as assigned.
