This individual plays a crucial role in maintaining the safety and security of a designated area. This role involves conducting regular patrols, monitoring activities, and responding to any security-related incidents or emergencies. The VSA - Security is responsible for deterring unauthorized access, preventing theft or damage, and ensuring compliance with security protocols. The position requires a high level of alertness, strong observation skills, and the ability to handle stressful situations effectively. FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in security or law enforcement are preferred
  • Previous experience in security, military, law enforcement, or a related field is desirable
  • Strong observation and surveillance skills with the ability to detect potential security threats
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse individuals
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations and make effective decisions
  • Physical fitness and the ability to walk, stand, or patrol for extended periods
  • Familiarity with security equipment, such as CCTV systems, alarms, or access control systems
  • Knowledge of emergency response procedures and basic first aid techniques
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records and write comprehensive reports
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Performs regular patrols of assigned areas on foot, by vehicle, or using surveillance equipment to maintain a visible presence to deter potential security threats and ensure the safety of individuals and property
  • Continuously monitors the area for any suspicious activities, security breaches, or safety hazards
  • Responds promptly to alarms, incidents, or distress calls and takes appropriate action, such as contacting emergency services, documenting incidents, or providing assistance
  • Enforces access control procedures by checking identification, verifying credentials, and ensuring authorized personnel have appropriate access to restricted areas
  • Restricts entry to unauthorized individuals and maintains accurate logs of visitors and deliveries
  • Conducts routine inspections of premises, including buildings, grounds, and equipment, to identify potential vulnerabilities or security weaknesses
  • Reports findings and recommends security enhancements or preventive measures to the Program Manager
  • Maintains accurate and detailed incident reports, including descriptions of events, individuals involved, and actions taken
  • Documents any security breaches, thefts, accidents, or other incidents, ensuring proper records for future reference and investigations
  • Carries out emergency response procedures, including fire drills, evacuations, or medical emergencies
  • Acts as a first responder during emergency situations and provides assistance as necessary
  • Monitors closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems, alarm systems, or other security devices to detect and respond to any suspicious activity promptly
  • Troubleshoots minor technical issues and reports any major faults to appropriate personnel
  • Provides exceptional customer service by assisting visitors, employees, or residents with inquiries, directions, or other security-related concerns
  • Maintains a professional and approachable demeanor while ensuring compliance with security policies and protocols
  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations, protocols, and company policies
  • Identifies and reports any safety hazards or potential risks, such as faulty equipment, broken locks, or inadequate lighting
  • Coordinates and communicates effectively with other security personnel, law enforcement agencies, or relevant stakeholders
  • Collaborates with site teams to address security challenges, share information, and maintain a unified approach to security operations
  • Performs other duties as required
