About The Position

The Veteran SCO Specialist serves as the School Certifying Official for over 700 military-connected students each semester at the University of Central Oklahoma. This role involves processing GI Bill payments, maintaining student records, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations regarding veterans' education benefits. The specialist also provides guidance to students on academic-related issues and assists in accreditation-related activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a job-related field or 4+ years of work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Processes payment of various forms of the GI Bill as the School Certifying Official for military-connected students.
• Reviews and maintains student records, coordinating input and evaluating transcripts.
• Reconciles and troubleshoots VA Post 9/11 tuition and fee payments and financial records.
• Verifies annual VA reporting fee for accuracy and compliance with federal regulations.
• Maintains records in accordance with Federal and State VA guidelines and prepares for audits.
• Hires, trains, and supervises VA students and part-time employees, processing their timesheets.
• Monitors changes in students' enrollment schedules and notifies Financial Aid and the VA accordingly.
• Certifies and processes government documents regarding VA Educational Benefits programs.
• Assists students with inquiries and problems concerning their VA educational benefits.
• Provides enrollment certification information to Financial Aid for accounting of tuition and fee payments.

Benefits
