About The Position

Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians the opportunity to work in two distinct settings: Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. In both environments, the role involves making a difference in the lives of pets daily. As a relief veterinarian, you'll benefit from flexible online scheduling with no minimum or maximum shift requirements, and a variety of weekday and weekend hours. You have the freedom to set your own compensation rate per shift and can continue other practice activities without agency fees. The appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and ensures timely departures, supported by trained and experienced staff who handle operations. The role also includes staying updated through a monthly newsletter and receiving a 15% discount on Petco products and services. Vetco Vaccination Clinics focus on basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement, primarily located within Petco stores or advanced mobile van units, without offering surgeries, emergency, or illness care. Vetco Total Care hospitals are full-service facilities providing preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures, equipped with digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and fully equipped surgery suites. These hospitals have licensed and trained staff and do not require overnight or emergency on-call shifts. The position aims to provide access to high-quality veterinary care across 48 states.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing
Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions including the ability to perform blood draws & administer vaccines
DEA in good standing required for full-service Vetco Total Care hospital relief shifts
Ability to provide Professional Liability Insurance + license defense policy
Compliance with all local state and federal mandates
