Love working with birds, reptiles and small mammals but not in love with the hassle of a 24/7 hospital? Love exotic pets but find your current employer rarely ever treats them? Allentown Animal Care is a five doctor exotic and small animal general practice located in South Whitehall Township, PA. We recently expanded into a 4100 sq ft facility and are looking to expand our team as well. We see a large volume of exotic pets and even work with a few wildlife nature education centers and care for their (and some not so little) critters. We are currently looking for a certified or experienced veterinary technician who is interested in working with all species of animals and have a special interest in exotics. We have been in practice for 40 yrs. Our hospital has a fully equipped in house lab, digital radiography, and full ultrasound capabilities. Our doctors perform surgery five days a week therefore surgical prep and anesthetic monitoring experience would be beneficial. Additional duties would include but not limited to, assisting the veterinarian appointments, collecting and recording animal case histories, filling prescription medications, supportive care and treatments, and educating owners on pet care.

  • Conduct routine health assessments and administer medical treatments to animals working on construction sites.
  • Monitor animal behavior and environmental conditions to identify potential health or safety risks.
  • Maintain detailed medical records and ensure compliance with veterinary and occupational safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with construction supervisors to develop protocols that protect animals from site hazards.
  • Assist in training construction personnel on proper animal handling and emergency response procedures.
  • Coordinate with external veterinary services for specialized care or emergency interventions.
  • Manage inventory of medical supplies and ensure proper sanitation of animal care areas.
  • Associate degree or certification in Veterinary Technology or a related field.
  • Valid Veterinary Technician License or equivalent certification as required by jurisdiction.
  • Experience working with animals in environments with high noise and activity levels.
  • Basic knowledge of occupational health and safety standards relevant to construction sites.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with construction teams and veterinary professionals.
  • Experience working in industrial or construction settings with animals.
  • Additional certification in animal behavior or rehabilitation.
  • First aid and emergency response training specific to animals.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance related to animal welfare in workplace environments.
  • Experience with record-keeping software and veterinary management systems.
