About The Position

The position involves preparing cats and dogs for surgery, answering questions from pet owners during check-in and check-out, and monitoring animals through surgery and recovery. The role requires performing standard vet tech duties as directed by the Veterinarian, Site Supervisor, and Clinic Manager. Communication with customers regarding drugs, anesthesia, vaccinations, and post-operative instructions is essential. The technician will prep, monitor, and move patients throughout the surgical workflow, emphasizing the safety of both staff and patients. Proper handling of animals during movements and while restraining them is crucial. Additional responsibilities include maintaining medical records, cleaning kennels, making sterile surgical packs, monitoring equipment, and performing laundry and mopping tasks.

Requirements

• Basic Computer Skills.
• Intermediate mathematical skills.
• Advanced organization skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Customer Service Experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cats and dogs for surgery.
• Answer questions from pet owners during check-in and check-out.
• Watch animals through surgery and recovery.
• Perform standard vet tech duties as directed by the Veterinarian, Site Supervisor, and Clinic Manager.
• Communicate with customers about drugs, anesthesia, vaccinations, and surgery-related issues.
• Prep, monitor, and move patients throughout the surgical workflow.
• Properly handle animals during movements and while restraining them.
• Perform basic palpation, shaving, sterilizing, and intubation for surgery preparation.
• Maintain proper medical records including surgical records, prescriptions, and drug logs.
• Monitor recovering animals.
• Clean kennels following Texas Litter Control’s cleaning standards.
• Make sterile surgical packs.
• Monitor equipment and report problems to the Executive Director.
• Perform laundry and mopping.
• Maintain proper stock of supplies in all areas of the clinic.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
