About The Position

As a Credentialed Veterinary Technician at Dundee Animal Hospital, you will play a critical role in supporting veterinarians in delivering exceptional medical care to animal patients. Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Veterinary Technician program.
  • Current credentialing as a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) as required by state regulations.
  • Strong understanding of animal anatomy, physiology, and common medical conditions.
  • Experience with laboratory procedures, anesthesia monitoring, and surgical assistance.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with veterinarians, staff, and pet owners.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a veterinary hospital or clinical setting.
  • Certification in specialized areas such as anesthesia, dentistry, or emergency care.
  • Familiarity with veterinary practice management software.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures by preparing equipment and restraining animals safely.
  • Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and cytology to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Administer prescribed medications, vaccinations, and treatments under veterinary supervision.
  • Monitor anesthesia and vital signs during surgical procedures to ensure patient safety.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and update patient charts with observations and treatment details.
  • Educate pet owners on post-operative care, medication administration, and general animal health maintenance.
  • Manage inventory of medical supplies and ensure cleanliness and sterilization of instruments and work areas.
  • Collaborate with the veterinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
