About The Position

The New Castle Career Center is seeking a qualified Substitute Teacher for the Veterinary Science Program from April 6 to May 22, 2026. This position supports both first- and second-year students and ensures instructional continuity during the instructor's absence.

Requirements

  • Valid Indiana Substitute Teacher Permit (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple student groups and maintain accurate records

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in veterinary science, animal care, or agricultural education preferred

Responsibilities

  • Grading homework, quizzes, and tests
  • Communicating with Work-Based Learning (WBL) students via Remind for attendance
  • Inputting daily attendance
  • Distributing lessons and instructional materials
  • Distributing and grading final examinations
  • Teaching resume and cover letter writing
  • Monitoring student progress on online assignments
  • Overseeing first-year student internships:
  • Verifying student attendance at internship sites
  • Collecting required paperwork upon return
  • Facilitating certification test preparation (materials provided)
  • Grading WBL internship work using the provided rubrics
  • Collecting and reviewing Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA) certification applications for completeness and accuracy
  • Submit completed CVA applications at least two weeks prior to the testing date
