About The Position

Morgan Steel, LLC is seeking a skilled Vertical Mill Operator to join our manufacturing team. The Vertical Mill Operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC and manual vertical milling machines to shape and fabricate metal components to precise specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in machining, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety in a fast-paced production environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior experience operating CNC or manual milling machines in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD files, and work orders accurately.
Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Knowledge of workplace safety standards and adherence to safety protocols.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate CNC and manual vertical milling machines to machine metal components according to job specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and work orders to determine cutting parameters.
Set up and adjust machine settings, including spindle speed, feed rate, and cutting tool selection, for optimal performance.
Load and secure raw materials into the machine, ensuring proper alignment and fixturing.
Monitor machining operations, making real-time adjustments to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on milling equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
Inspect machined parts for quality, verifying dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring tools.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to company safety policies and procedures.
Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to optimize workflow and meet production goals.
Identify and report any material defects, machine malfunctions, or safety concerns immediately.
