About The Position

The Vertical Mill Operator at MORGAN STEEL LLC is responsible for operating and maintaining vertical milling machines to produce precision metal parts and components. This role requires a high level of technical skill and attention to detail to ensure that all products meet the company's quality standards and specifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating vertical milling machines in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Experience in interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Proven track record of maintaining equipment and performing routine maintenance checks.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues with milling equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in machining or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate vertical milling machines to perform tasks such as drilling, cutting, and shaping metal workpieces.
  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine the appropriate machine settings and operations.
  • Adjust machine settings to ensure optimal performance and accuracy, including selecting and installing cutting tools, fixtures, and attachments.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on milling machines to prevent downtime and ensure efficient operation.
  • Monitor the machining process to ensure quality control and make necessary adjustments to maintain product specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes and improve efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and company policies.
  • Document and report any discrepancies or issues with machinery or production to supervisors for resolution.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to vertical milling operations and related technologies.
