Ventilator Registered Nurse (RN) Skilled Nursing Facility – Orange, NJ A respected skilled nursing facility in Orange, NJ is seeking an experienced Ventilator Registered Nurse (RN) to join its dedicated ventilator unit. This role is ideal for an RN who is confident caring for ventilator- and tracheostomy-dependent residents in a long-term care setting. Position Overview The Ventilator RN provides skilled, hands-on nursing care to residents requiring mechanical ventilation and advanced respiratory support. You will work closely with respiratory therapy, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, consistent, and high-quality care.
Requirements
- Active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Experience with ventilator and tracheostomy patients (SNF, LTACH, ICU, or step-down)
- Strong respiratory assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently in a structured clinical environment
- Dependable, professional, and patient-focused
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to ventilator- and tracheostomy-dependent residents
- Monitor ventilator settings, alarms, and resident respiratory status
- Perform tracheostomy care, suctioning, and airway management
- Assess residents for changes in condition and initiate appropriate interventions
- Administer medications, tube feedings, and treatments as ordered
- Accurately document care in the electronic medical record
- Collaborate with respiratory therapists, physicians, and nursing leadership
- Maintain compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards
