About The Position

The Veneer Specialist is responsible for selecting, preparing, and applying wood veneers to meet project specifications and quality standards. This role requires advanced knowledge of veneer species, grain matching, and finishing techniques. The technique is an art where different species of wood veneers are selected, cut and assembled creating a custom pattern in a single sheet, following the customer's specifications.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in woodworking, especially in veneering

  • Operation of various woodworking equipment and hand tools is required
  • Operate forklifts as needed

  • 2 year technical/business degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years' experience in a production/manufacturing environment or similar
  • Walking, sitting, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting may be required throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexibility to travel between multiple PD locations

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and verify wood veneer for quality and quantity per project specs
  • Read architectural drawings to select, cut and prepare wood veneer sheets for the different blanks used in our products
  • Organize and prep veneer for stitching
  • Mix adhesives and operate splicing machines
  • Reinforce and repair veneer edges using tape and manual techniques
  • Apply adhesive and press veneer to panels
  • Operate wide belt sander and inspect panels for quality
  • Performs other duties as assigned
