About The Position

In a rapidly evolving industry, businesses must adapt quickly to market realities to engender growth. Some of these realities come in the form of threats; fraudulent individuals and hackers that constantly challenge platforms, infrastructure, and processes. Others come from regulatory bodies, laws, and institutional requirements. And still others come from customers themselves, whether specified in contract or as an implicit part of a service or product that has become a matter of convention. Whatever the origin, non-compliance with these requirements exposes the business to risks of not being competitive, losing business, reputational damage, inefficiency and, in the worst-case scenario, fines and legal complications. The scope of the Vendor Compliance Specialist function is broad, and touches on all aspects of supplier and vendor engagement. At the highest level, compliance topics can be divided into two: Legal and Financial considerations on one hand, and Commercial considerations on the other. Compliance with the laws of the local markets in which RWS operates and with the internationally accepted standards governing global business practices is fundamental. Without it, the company cannot function. For that reason, a number of policies covering RWS’ approach to sanctions, data privacy, tax risk, and others have been developed over the years. As technology continues to change, so too will the expectations of governments and institutions in relation to its’ governance, and as a result, policies will be created and modified to meet those expectations. Meeting the demands of customers is the top priority. Many of these are driven by circumstances unique to the clients’ own business. Some have developed as quality control mechanisms, and others are global standards. In all cases, compliance is a requirement for doing business.
