About The Position

The Vending Mechanic position involves performing repairs, overhauls, and servicing of various money changing machines, vending machines, and Micro Market equipment. The role requires a combination of technical skills and physical effort to ensure the proper functioning of these machines.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license or a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).
  • Must have knowledge and skills necessary to operate a motor vehicle safely.
  • Must be able to pass appropriate background checks for the specific area of responsibility.
  • Must pass the GSA defensive driving course.
  • Total of 6 years' experience, including 1 year of general repair experience and 5 years of specialized experience in repair work on mechanical and electronically operated machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs broken machines and locates worn or poorly adjusted parts through visual preventative maintenance checks.
  • Determines parts required and obtains replacement information from manufacturer’s parts manual or by comparison with samples.
  • Ensures adjustments meet manufacturer’s specifications using voltage regulator circuit testers as required.
  • Removes, disassembles, inspects, repairs, adjusts, overhauls, modifies, calibrates, and tunes electronic refrigeration and mechanical components.
  • Periodically overhauls machines, including spray painting and checking refrigeration systems.
  • Cleans interior of machines and checks for defects, ensuring wire harnesses are tied together.
  • Notifies supervisor of major problems encountered.
  • Inspects and tests to diagnose malfunctions using various standard and manufacturers repair manuals.
  • Determines if equipment can be economically repaired or declared unserviceable.
  • Prepares unsatisfactory equipment reports specifying nature of fault and materials necessary for repair.
  • Replaces and repairs defective circuit elements and completes necessary alignments and adjustments.
  • Uses a variety of test equipment to localize trouble by component and circuit.
  • Maintains stock of parts, tools, and equipment, ensuring tools are protected from rusting and loss.
  • Relocates and installs new machines at locations.
  • Operates a motor vehicle in the performance of duties and maintains vehicle for proper maintenance.
  • Collects monies from vending machines and verifies cash taken from vendor contracted machines.
  • May be assigned to clean and maintain the laundry room.
  • Performs duties of vending route drivers during NEX business needs.
