The Vehicle Thermal Systems Hydraulic CAE and Development section is responsible for analyzing the engine cooling system in both CAE/CFD as well as lab validation. Members of the section use various CFD methods to quantify component hardware and system level design impacts on engine performance, fuel consumption, emissions, NVH, system level hydraulic response and durability to help drive the engine/ Powertrain design and address issues that arise during the engine/ Powertrain development process. Specific studies may include cooling system flow predictions, system layout and component selection, and coolant fill-deaeration. Laboratory testing of hardware and correlation to CAE models is crucial in this position. This position is a range of salary grades SG 5-8

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ of minimum experience in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer and combustion.
  • 5+ years minimum experience in thermal/fluid CFD simulation. Multiphysics modeling preferred.
  • 2+ years of physical testing preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years plus experience in automotive ICE/Powertrain or vehicle CFD applications.
  • Proficient in the use of analytical tools including STAR-CCM+, CONVERGE, Simerics, GT-SUITE, AMEsim , Flomaster etc.
  • Familiarity with CAD systems preferably CATIA and 3DX.
  • Familiarity with Pre-processing tools such as ANSA, Hyperwork,s etc.
  • Proficient in common computer languages: C, C+, Java, Python, shell script, MATLAB, etc.
  • Self-directed, confident and resilient individual with excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent work planning and issue resolution skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform 3D thermal/fluid CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations at the system, subsystem, and component levels of Powertrain systems, both ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) as well as BEV, FHEV and PHEV using commercial CFD software.
  • Work with component and system engineers and provide technical guidance.
  • Develop and apply CFD methods to support product development and virtual test sign-off.
  • Work with software suppliers to improve software capabilities.
  • Perform physical hardware validation to obtain viable correlation data.
