About The Position

As a Vehicle Test Engineer II, you'll dive into the exciting world of full vehicle validation, both on-site and out in the field. Your mission will be to meticulously plan, execute, and document a wide range of tests-from NVH and Vehicle Dynamics to environmental challenges-all while ensuring every detail aligns with our DVP&R. Using your strong engineering foundation, you'll conduct subjective and objective evaluations to identify issues, determine root causes, and push issues to resolution to ensure our vehicles meet targets before start of production.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering or related science from an accredited university.
  • 2+ years of applicable experience in the automotive or a related industry OR Master's degree preferred.
  • Cursory understanding of primary vehicle systems, with experience running and maintaining a variety of vehicle level and component level tests a bonus.
  • Team first mentality.
  • Innate curiosity about all things automotive.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Principals-first approach to engineering problem solving.
  • Familiarity with work management systems similar to JIRA, JAMA, or Confluence for test planning, coordination, execution and issue tracking.
  • Experience with software related to CAD, vehicle level instrumentation, calibration, data logging and data acquisition systems.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • No driving related suspensions or revocation of Driver License (within a 3-5 year period).
  • No drug or alcohol related driving incidents in the last 3 years.
  • No more than 1 serious moving violation in the last 3 years.
  • Must have a valid driver's license in the state of residence that you will be driving/operating a vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute and document full vehicle validation testing in local and remote locations as prescribed in the DVP&R.
  • Coordinate quotations and purchase orders with external vendors and internal accounting for external proving grounds and data acquisition equipment.
  • Review and distribute test documentation including test instructions, specifications, drawings, inspection intervals and verification plans.
  • Prepare and update test vehicles (hardware, software) and document condition and performance pre / during / post test for multiple attributes (NVH, Performance, Body / Chassis Structural Durability, others) as prescribed in test standards.
  • Drive vehicles at Proving Grounds and other off-sites locations including public drive routes, under varied conditions such as cold/hot weather, off-road, remote urban, overseas, trailer towing, etc.
  • Perform and document subjective and objective evaluations to identify system failure modes and potential attribute target risks.
  • Assist in root cause analysis for failures and issues, including hardware failure and software bug tracking; document and track using JIRA.
  • Update tracking metrics regularly and communicate to program leads.
