The Role Xos is hiring an experienced Vehicle Service Technician who will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Xos vehicles directly at customer facilities while providing detailed feedback on design and quality. This role requires a strong understanding of vehicle systems, particularly battery systems, and the ability to work independently to ensure optimal vehicle performance and timely service. You will translate customer feedback into actionable technical insights, documenting root causes and recommending corrective actions to support continuous improvement across engineering and production. Success in this role depends on close collaboration with internal teams, including engineering production, and project management, as well as clear and professional communication with customers. Requirements

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in electric vehicle, heavy truck, or automotive maintenance and repair.
  • Strong knowledge of high-voltage systems, battery management, and electric drive systems.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic software, electrical schematics, and test equipment.
  • Good computer skills to be able to report on ticket diagnosis and resolution progress; proficiency in Google Suite applications.
  • Technical or vocational certification in automotive or electrical systems preferred. (ASE Certifications are a plus).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for customer-facing work.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • A valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record are required for this position, as driving is an essential function of the role.
  • Must be available as business needs require, including weekends, holidays, and outside of standard business hours.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on Xos vehicles and subsystems including HV battery, drive system, charging components, and auxiliary systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections to ensure vehicle uptime, reliability, and performance.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools, electrical schematics, and test equipment to identify issues and verify proper system functionality.
  • Diagnose and report on design, quality, and reliability concerns observed by providing detailed feedback to Xos engineering and quality teams.
  • Translate customer-reported issues into actionable technical findings and support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Document all service activities, issues, and resolutions in accordance with company standards within Xos ticketing system (HubSpot).
  • Provide technical guidance and training support to customer technicians as needed.
  • Maintain a professional and proactive presence at the customer facility serving as the primary onsite technical representative for Xos.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, engineering, production, quality, and project management to address field performance and design improvements.
  • Ensure full compliance with all safety procedures particularly when working with high-voltage systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of Xos and its customers.
