About The Position

As a Vehicle Service Attendant, you will safely perform routine fueling, minor servicing, and cleaning of coaches and other Community Transit vehicles. You will work under the general direction of the VSA Lead and follow established procedures and methods.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license at the time of hire and have a safe driving record.
  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions for job assignments.
  • Must possess a Washington State Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or Learner’s Permit with passenger and air brake restriction lifted before hire. Permit holders must pass on-site training to obtain a Washington State Commercial Driver's License with passenger and air brake endorsement within 90 days of hire. Current Washington CDL holders must pass training on driving Community Transit’s fleet within 90 days of hire.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions. Must be able to work in an environment with grease, dust, dirt, chemicals, solvents, carbon monoxide, shop environment fumes, and diesel fumes from vehicles and machinery.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen.
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift assigned to meet the agency’s needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to lift more than 50 pounds.
  • Hazards and safety precautions for working in a shop environment and using safety equipment.

  • Ability to use company equipment (fuel island, steam cleaner, bush wash, etc.) properly and safely to service equipment.
  • Effectively communicate with Community Transit staff, customers, and vendors.
  • Interpersonal skills and working with diverse populations

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Participation in a vocational or Community College Diesel Mechanics Program.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular fueling and exterior and interior cleaning of coaches and other Community Transit vehicles.
  • Perform minor servicing of coaches and other vehicles, such as checking oil, water, transmission, power steering, or wiper fluids.
  • Operate vehicles such as transit coaches and support vehicles as authorized and necessary to accomplish primary responsibilities.
  • Assist mechanics on road calls, including moving a coach in or out of the facility and assisting mechanics as needed.
  • Advise mechanics or other employees about equipment condition problems.
  • Perform general cleaning to maintain a safe and professional work environment.
  • Actively promote and maintain professional and respectful interactions within Community Transit and with external customers.
  • Assist in chaining vehicles.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
