As a Vehicle Safety Test Engineer Intern, you will support crash testing operations and focus on building up the test team’s expertise with Anthropomorphic Test Devices (ATD). This includes understanding their construction, instrumentation/sensors, response capability, bio-fidelity, seating protocols, and calibration procedures. You will also support future HATCI/Safety Integration testing and benchmarking.

  • Support crash testing operations as Vehicle Safety Test Engineer.
  • Build up test team’s expertise with ATD.
  • Understand construction, instrumentation/sensors, response capability, bio-fidelity, seating protocols, and calibration procedures.
  • Support for future HATCI/Safety Integration testing and benchmarking.
  • Identify and establish a means to track and ensure the on-time calibration of sensors and equipment.
  • Assist in future HATCI/Safety Integration recruitment.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the full vehicle crash test process.
  • Gain exposure to official testing procedures.
  • Develop new field case test modes or modes of injury analysis related to occupant kinematics.
  • Conduct crash test dummy seating analysis and comparison studies for benchmarking.
  • Improve existing calibration procedures and their execution.
  • Develop procedures for in-house calibration facility.
  • Improve existing CMM templates and translate them to Excel for post-crash analysis.
  • Conduct research into new equipment that may benefit the FCIL’s needs.
  • Biomedical Engineering Major.
  • Biomechanical Engineering Major.
  • Mechanical Engineering Major with an interest/experience in biomechanics and the human body.
