About The Position

As the Vehicle Program Manager, you will be responsible for defining vehicle specifications, developing product business cases, formally communicating program direction and negotiating program schedules. You will work closely with a broad spectrum of cross-company teams to balance product needs and deliver new vehicle programs. These teams include Studio, Engineering, Supply Chain, Factory and Sales departments. You will work closely with Vehicle Technical Leaders and company executives to align company direction and vehicle specifications. Your work will impact new and existing vehicle programs from concept through ongoing production to plan and maintain projects that keep Tesla vehicles world leading and break new industry boundaries. Develop, negotiate and approve vehicle program schedules based on company requirements. Ensure ongoing alignment across departments Develop, negotiate and release vehicle product specifications formally with change control Develop, negotiate and release high level program business cases, obtaining budgetary approval on programs and managing program costs throughout the life of the program Translate company priorities into actionable workstreams for teams, as it relates to the program Establish cross functional alignment between teams on technical, scheduling and business matters relating to product definition and deployment Inform company executives on critical program direction and decisions and solicit input as required Analyse program risk, action mitigations and escalate across the compnay as required Communicate program direction, specification and schedule to downstream departments across the company. Guide teams with certainty through rapid development cycles, changing requirements, and uncertainty

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years program/project management experience managing cross-functional product development programs with technical engineering and manufacturing inputs
  • Demonstrated experience in fast paced environment with exposure to end-to-end product deployment — from concept through development and successful launch
  • Demonstrated ability to work with limited resources, independently, tight deadlines, and with urgency
  • Demonstrated experience using program management tools and processes to coordinate complex long-lead hardware and software
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills with ability to work in a highly cross-functionally environment
