About The Position
The position requires the individual to provide preventative maintenance on all District and department vehicles, including specialized vehicles such as tractors, yard equipment, forklifts, hand trucks, and tenant 5700 sweepers. The individual will establish preventative maintenance schedules and ensure that the shop, equipment, and tools are kept in a clean and safe operating condition. Responsibilities include changing oil, lubricating vehicles, inspecting vehicles, evaluating the condition of systems, and performing necessary repairs to ensure safe and efficient operation. The role also involves maintaining accurate inventory records for parts and equipment, documenting repair and maintenance activities, and correcting unsafe conditions in the work area. The position may require working irregular hours, operating buses or other vehicles, and demonstrating maintenance processes to Mechanic Helpers. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for obtaining quotes from vendors and ensuring compliance with safety procedures and ethical standards.
