About The Position

Supervises and directs activities of the Vehicle Maintenance team of 8-10 mechanics. Together with the assistant manager and 2 shop leads, is responsible for a fleet of roughly 140 vehicles consisting of snow cats, loaders, construction equipment, transit buses, snowmobiles, trucks, SXS’s, and quads. The manager oversees all shop operations. Provides team direction to meet expectation goals and maintain a safe working environment. Ensuring all fleet vehicles are safe and functioning properly for our operations teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Vehicle Maintenance or related experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory position.
  • Ability to perform all Vehicle Maintenance duties.
  • Good leadership, customer service, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical journals and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to navigate the Microsoft suite of programs, including D365 and Excel.
  • Utilize various other software programs including Workday, Phoenix, Samsara, Mitchel 1, and Pisten Bully maintain.
  • Valid class C driver’s license is a must, while a CDL class A or B is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure internal customers are treated courteously, safely and efficiently.
  • Responsible for overall direction, coordination and evaluation of Vehicle Maintenance department including capital replacement planning.
  • Carries out supervisory duties in accordance with Palisades Tahoe policies and applicable laws.
  • Interviews, hires, trains, and appraises performance of employees.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining labor and equipment expense budget.
  • Determines work priorities, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
  • Issues written and oral instructions to the team and department.
  • Assign duties and examine work for safety, exactness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
  • Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
  • Responds to customer and management complaints.
  • Performs or assists subordinates in performing duties in both training and development of staff.
  • Participate in best practice department meetings with two other vehicle shop managers and director of vehicle maintenance.
