About The Position
The Commercial Vehicle Inspector position at Advantage Equipment Inspections is a part-time, contract role focused on conducting thorough inspections of various types of vehicles, including heavy-duty equipment, cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, construction equipment, and recreational vehicles. The inspector will operate within a designated geographical area, performing inspections at auction locations, dealerships, and customer sites. This role is critical in ensuring the quality and condition of vehicles that are off-lease, company-owned, or fleet returns. Inspectors are expected to deliver timely and efficient inspections, maintaining a high standard of quality throughout the process. In this role, the inspector will be responsible for documenting and recording specific details regarding each vehicle's condition. This includes noting any damage, scratches, dents, cleanliness, engine condition, and interior state. Inspectors must possess the ability to identify various types of damage, such as engine damage on diesel or gas engines, physical damage, previous repairs, frame damage, hail damage, or flood damage. They will also need to explain the results of their inspections clearly in their reports, ensuring that all findings are communicated effectively to clients and stakeholders. The position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, as inspectors will need to foster good relationships with lessees, dealer principals, and auction personnel. Attention to detail is paramount, as accuracy in inspections and documentation is critical to the success of vehicle sales. Inspectors must also be equipped with a computer or smartphone with internet access, a digital camera, and a tire depth gauge to complete their tasks efficiently. Timeliness is essential, as the results of inspections directly impact pending vehicle sales.
