Vehicle Emission Lab Manager Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI)’s Regulation & Certification Department is currently seeking a Vehicle Emissions Lab (VEL) Manager for our team at the Chino facility in California. HATCI’s Certification & Compliance team helps support Hyundai and Kia vehicles meeting the challenging environmental and emissions standards at the federal, state, and local levels, through certification & in-use testing. The VEL Manager will be responsible for all lab operations, equipment, instrumentation, service and maintenance, calibrations, correlation, and lab compliance to the EPA CFR, CARB CCR and ISO17025 requirements. Responsibilities also include technician training, lab utilization / planning and future lab enhancements or expansion.WHAT YOU WILL DO Oversight of equipment maintenance, calibration, operation correlation and repairs of Chassis emissions lab equipment and instrumentation. Coordinating test schedules and plans with lab staff and requestors. Establish requirements for future emissions facility upgrades (defined by management and project requirements) including types of instrumentation, equipment, and software to attain 1066 compliance as well as future standards defined by the regulatory agencies. Support and conduct audits (Internal for ISO17025 accreditation) as well as for EPA/CARB (Ann Arbor and Chino) as verification of lab operations to meet current and future EPA CFR (Code of Federal Regulation) requirements. Responsibilities include defining, maintaining, and verifying proper operations of Chino Lab to meet CFR and ISO17025 requirements. Conduct planning and testing of cell correlation between HATCI Chino & Ann Arbor, NamYang, HMMA and reg agencies when available (as required by regulatory agencies and ISO17025) Collaboration with Ann Arbor lab operations team and facilities team. Data processing and submission to requesting teams. Maintain test data in compliance with CFR and internal Hyundai Security standards. Coordinate maintenance, calibration and upgrading of emissions test equipment. Maintain emissions test facility and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, workplace health and safety, and company polices. Plan annual budgets and resource allocation requirements for future years. Identify training needs for staff members and providing them with leadership opportunities. Conduct mid-year and end of year evaluations (First sign off / approval) for staff members. Create project goals and objectives for the year based on Department or company priorities and objectives. Create and present technical reports as assigned. Perform administrative functions such as purchasing requests, timecard, vacation requests, travel requests, etc. Exceptional organization and communication skills, both oral and written, are necessary for this position. Conflict resolution between test requestors and test entities would be another critical factor in this role Travel up to 20% of time.
