About The Position

Lead engineering and CAD development of full-sized interior / exterior Vehicle Package Seating Property for exterior research. Develop designs in CAD for wood, fiberglass, and foam parts combined with existing automotive parts to be assembled into the build of the package property. Develop CAD for full 3D exterior and interior parts utilizing CAD surfacing techniques from Design Studio surface source data. Support Program Architecture Team with feedback on interior/exterior package targets (driver accommodation, roominess, exterior visibility, ease of ingress & egress, and luggage/cargo space) through development of package property. Work with Program Architecture Team to validate targets using competitive benchmarking, customer satisfaction, and quality data. Assist program teams in resolving Program issues Conduct Ford and Competitive benchmarking analysis as related to Mechanical Integration or Occupant Package requirements. Conduct CAD/CAE studies as needed to support Program teams in non-standard studies Perform correlation studies as needed to validate current and future requirements. Provide input on the development of globally consistent requirements, tools, processes, and methods. Assist in the development of CAD based mechanical integration or occupant package tools, resolution of tool issues, and evaluation of tool updates/software improvements. Assist/lead development, improvement, and maintenance of Mechanical Integration or Occupant Package requirements and processes. Established and active employee resource groups

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive mechanical or occupant package design with package layout / arrangement / integration and Accommodation & Usage and attribute delivery.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical Integration and Occupant Package program experience
  • 3+ years of experience in CATIA V5 (and CATIA V6 desired), TeamCenter, and VisMockup.
  • 3+ years of experience in CATIA surface design.
  • Ability in design of mechanical door closure systems, chassis and steering system, and seating systems.
  • Knowledge of automotive engineering, design, geometry, attributes, assembly, and service.
  • Ability to link and normalize geometry with occupant and mechanical package layout and attribute performance.
  • In-depth knowledge of Body / Chassis / Powertrain / Electrical systems (geometry and function), attributes (NVH, Climate, Safety, etc.), and delivering compatible, vehicle-level solutions
