About The Position

A Vehicle Acquisition Specialist is responsible for finding, evaluating, and purchasing pre-owned vehicles for a dealership or similar business.

Requirements

  • Experience: Previous experience in automotive sales, inventory management, or vehicle acquisition.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of automotive market trends and pricing strategies.
  • Negotiation Skills: Ability to effectively negotiate purchase terms.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to interact with customers and colleagues.
  • Technological Proficiency: Experience with dealership management systems (DMS), vehicle valuation tools, and online platforms.
  • Organizational and Analytical Skills: Strong organizational skills and the ability to analyze market data.
  • Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently and achieve targeted goals.

Responsibilities

  • Sourcing Vehicles: Locating vehicles for purchase through various channels such as auctions, private parties, dealership service drives, and third-party websites.
  • Appraising Vehicles: Evaluating vehicle condition reports, market value, and history reports to determine accurate appraisals and set appropriate wholesale and retail prices.
  • Negotiating: Negotiating purchase terms to maximize profitability while staying within budget and inventory goals.
  • Customer Interaction: Responding to leads, setting appointments with potential sellers, and interacting with customers in person and over the phone.
  • Process Management: Executing the acquisition process, including handling paperwork, coordinating transportation and delivery, and ensuring vehicles meet dealership standards.
  • Market Analysis: Utilizing software and resources to analyze market conditions, identify trends, and stay competitive.
  • Collaboration: Working with the Used Car Manager and other dealership personnel to identify inventory needs and manage the acquisition process.
