The Vegetation Management Program Manager at Duke Energy is responsible for overseeing contractor management and ensuring the effective implementation of vegetation management programs. This role requires advanced skills and the ability to work independently while managing community-sensitive projects that enhance system reliability and regulatory compliance. The position involves collaboration with internal teams and local operations to address vegetation-related impacts on the electrical system, ultimately aiming to improve customer satisfaction and safety.

  • Manage highly visible community-sensitive vegetation management projects with support from management and other personnel.
  • Work with internal engineering and vegetation management personnel to strategically improve system reliability.
  • Collaborate with local operation and maintenance teams to address vegetation impacts on the electrical system.
  • Support the vegetation management organization and regulatory teams in managing customer relations from a state regulatory perspective.
  • Bachelor's degree with 1-3 years of Electrical or Vegetation Management experience, or an Associate's degree with 3-7 years of experience, or a High School diploma with 3-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Possess working knowledge of how vegetation management affects the safety and reliability of the electrical system.
  • Utility Arborist Certification, Registered Professional Forester, or PMI Knowledge & Project related work experience.
  • Familiarity with GIS databases and other geo-spatial systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement vegetation management methods and train others.
  • Effective communication and customer relations skills, both verbal and written.
  • Utility experience with proficiency in vegetation management processes.
  • Construction management knowledge.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to evaluate program effectiveness.
