VEGETATION MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT (SEASONAL) Hourly Rate: $24.23 - $27.23 per hour, depending on experience Hours: Six-month assignment; up to 40 hours per week Schedule may vary based on work assignment This position is open until filled. Incumbents are non-benefited temporary laborers performing routine maintenance work for the City. Work direction is provided by assigned supervisor or designee. Previous work experience performing duties identified below is desirable but not required.

Requirements

• Applicants must have a valid Washington State Driver's License
• must be able to verify employment eligibility at time of hire
• must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• must successfully pass the City's pre-employment substance abuse screening, position-relevant background check and driving record check
• must be at least 18 years of age

Responsibilities

• Assist maintenance crews in routine grounds maintenance including mowing, weed-eating, and fertilizing lawns and routine landscaping
• weeding and cleaning of flower and shrub beds, litter control, edging and cleaning of walks
• performing other related tasks as required
• operate landscaping maintenance equipment such as walk-behind or push-type mowers, weed-eaters, backpack blowers and edgers
• operate standard size pickups and/or sedans with hand and foot control
• work in high motor and pedestrian traffic areas
