About The Position
We are a very small, multilingual, and eco-friendly preschool located in a house setting in South Pasadena/Highland Park, seeking a dedicated Vegan Cook/Janitorial and School Maintenance staff member. This position involves working with children aged 2.5 to 5 years old, and we are looking for someone who has experience in a preschool environment and is passionate about cooking, baking, and maintaining a clean and organized space. The ideal candidate will thrive in an eco-friendly environment and be enthusiastic about nurturing young children while ensuring their safety and well-being. The role requires a nurturing, fun, energetic, and efficient individual who is self-motivated and creative. You will be responsible for cooking vegan lunches, preparing and serving breakfast and snacks, and cleaning up afterward. Knowledge of ingredients, food hygiene, and the ability to create a weekly list of necessary ingredients is essential. Additionally, you will conduct cooking and baking classes with the children once a week, supervise them when necessary, and provide first aid assistance as needed. Daily responsibilities include cleaning both inside and outside the preschool, which encompasses classrooms, storage rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, offices, and the backyard. You will also be involved in gardening tasks such as watering plants, planting flowers and vegetables, and maintaining a composting and worm farm. Other duties include organizing toys, books, and school materials, assisting teachers, and performing laundry a couple of times a week. Punctuality, dependability, patience, enthusiasm, and flexibility are crucial traits for this position. First Aid and CPR certification is highly recommended, and a positive and professional attitude is a must. Please note that this role involves a significant amount of cleaning, and a Live Scan criminal background check will be required, along with health screenings and immunizations.
