About The Position

Contra Costa Electric is recruiting for a Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Manager to oversee all BIM/VDC processes within electrical contracting projects, ensuring accurate coordination, constructability, and efficiency across design and field operations. This role partners closely with project managers, engineers, detailers, and field leaders to deliver high‑quality digital models that support successful prefabrication, installation, and project execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of VDC/BIM experience within the electrical or MEP contracting industry, including leadership roles.
  • Strong understanding of electrical construction means and methods, prefabrication workflows, and field installation practices.
  • Experience presenting technical material and training teams on VDC processes.
  • Expert proficiency in Excel.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word, etc.
  • Expert proficiency in BIM tools such as Revit, Navisworks Manage, BIM 360/ACC, and related coordination software.
  • Basic understanding of C# Programming and .NET.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, architectural, structural, and mechanical plans with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong ability to make decisions which drive efficient outcomes for field installations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of company‑wide VDC standards and workflows.
  • Manage BIM/VDC staff, including coordinator sand modelers, providing coaching, feedback, and performance oversight.
  • Oversee creation and coordination of 3D Revit electrical fabrication and Navisworks models for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with project requirements and constructability best practices.
  • Conduct and participate in clash detection and coordination meetings with other trades to resolve issues while maintaining project schedule and budget.
  • Collaborate with project leadership during preconstruction to support BIM-based planning, logistics, sequencing, and cost/schedule integration.
  • Provide quality control oversight for BIM deliverables, shop drawings, and prefabrication packages.
  • Support field teams by troubleshooting BIM-related issues and ensuring clear communication of digital model intent.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, engineers, design consultants, subcontractors, and inspectors.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies (AR/VR, reality capture, UAVs) to improve workflows and project outcomes.
  • Prepare RFP and manage subcontractors when workload demands
  • Ensure compliance with contract documents, BIM execution plans, safety protocols, and company standards.
  • Quickly learn and apply practices and technical skills.
  • Work independently with little or no supervision after having been shown how to accomplish assignments.
  • Ask appropriate questions related to assignments and recommend improvements.
  • Practice excellent organization and remain upbeat and pleasant even when facing the pressure of pending or multiple deadlines.
