About The Position

Wharton-Smith, Inc., a highly regarded General Contractor based in Central Florida, is seeking a talented Piping Designer/Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) team member to work on projects in the Commercial, Education, Entertainment, and Water Treatment construction markets.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school.
• Computer Aided Drafting and Design Certification or 4 years of experience in design and drafting.
• AutoCAD preferred.
• Must be able to multitask, work on teams, and be able to interact with clients, architects, subs, etc.
• High attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• Willingness to gradually take on more responsibility.
• Ability to assume leadership roles.
• Must possess a positive attitude, an outstanding work ethic and be team-oriented.

Nice To Haves

• Autodesk AEC Design Suite (AutoCAD/Revit/Navisworks/Plant3D)
• NavisWorks BricsCAD and Bentley products a plus
• Microsoft 365 Suite
• BlueBeam
• Construction and/or Design experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare piping 3D models using Spec Driven software AutoCAD, Revit, Microstation or BricsCAD
• Maintaining effective communication with project teams and subcontractors
• Review models, project documents for quality control
• Modeling 3D components in AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation or BricsCAD
• Production of 2D layout drawings of process piping for field use
• Generate 2D piping shop drawings with Bill of Materials for fabrication
• Utilize models for quantity extraction
• Gather measurements and information in the field
• Document management
