About The Position

At our rapidly growing practice, Cardiovascular Specialists of New England, we are seeking a highly motivated Vascular Ultrasound Technologist to join our team! As a Vascular Ultrasound Technologist, your duties will include preparing patients for scans, operating the ultrasound equipment, and working with physicians to review the vascular images. We are seeking someone who can interpret sonograms accurately and provide excellent patient care. You will demonstrate acute attention to detail and the ability to explain technical diagnoses in understandable terms for patients. You will need to understand the clinical scenario and independently adjust exams accordingly. You will report directly to the Clinical Nurse Manager or her designee.

Requirements

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) -or- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) is required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of working experience as a Vascular Sonographer
  • BLS/ACLS Certification and RVT certification required
  • Strong interpersonal skills to put patients at ease and explain things in easily understandable terms
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients and physicians
  • Attention to detail to notice abnormalities in sonograms
  • Hand-eye coordination to adjust the movement of the ultrasound transducer based on the images seen on the screen
  • Technical and analytical skills to troubleshoot complex diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to work well under pressure, sometimes in emergency situations, to get a fast diagnosis
  • Strong teamwork to interact with the medical team
  • Medical knowledge, including a strong understanding of anatomy, to create proper images
  • Excellent customer service skills are required
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team

Nice To Haves

  • Preference to those who have both Vascular and Echo experience

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and updating patients' medical records.
  • Ensuring that the lab, examination rooms, tools, and equipment are properly sterilized and maintained.
  • Preparing patients for ultrasound examinations.
  • Operating and maintaining ultrasound and plethysmography equipment.
  • Performing sonographic examinations on patients to develop vascular images.
  • Generating analytical reports and documentation from sonogram results.
  • Assisting physicians with reviewing and interpreting ultrasound images.
  • Communicating and explaining sonography examinations and results to patients.
  • Performing administrative tasks such as managing patient schedules and filing diagnostic reports.
  • Staying up to date with the latest advancements in sonography technology and techniques.
