About The Position

The position involves performing comprehensive ultrasound exams while adhering to established protocols. The individual will be responsible for verifying, planning, setting up, performing, and reporting appropriate examinations. Patient safety and education are paramount, requiring the technician to verify patient identity and maintain communication throughout the procedure. The role also includes assisting in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives, completing clerical tasks related to ultrasound tests, and ensuring accurate and timely recording of all testing information. Critical results must be reported promptly, and patient privacy and confidentiality must be maintained at all times. The technician will communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and other personnel, maintaining a pleasant and informative demeanor. Recommendations regarding duties, policies, and procedures will be made to supervisors, and the technician is expected to foster a team-oriented environment. Responsibilities also include maintaining a clean work area, managing lab opening and closing procedures, and ensuring all equipment is cleaned and maintained according to hospital infection control policies. The technician will also attend vascular conferences and engage in professional growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • Registry through CCI or ARDMS.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency with computer systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive ultrasound exams following established protocols.
  • Verify identity and inform patients during procedures to ensure safety and cooperation.
  • Assist in quality assurance and performance improvement.
  • Complete clerical tasks associated with ultrasound tests accurately and timely.
  • Report critical results promptly and accurately following established policy.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.

  • Enhance teamwork and demonstrate personal accountability in daily duties.
  • Engage in problem-solving and seek assistance when necessary.

  • Notify supervisors of stocking and equipment needs or problems.
  • Take responsibility for lab opening and closing procedures.
  • Clean and maintain all equipment according to infection control policies.
