About The Position

The Vascular Technologist I position is an entry-level position that works independently to provide advanced technical skills to complete a variety of non-invasive tests used in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease with moderate difficulty. This position provides direct assistance to physicians with all diagnostic and special vascular ultrasound procedures. This Vascular Technologist I position delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to ultrasound exam standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service.

Requirements

  • Must meet one of the following educational/experience requirements: - Satisfactory completion of a formal vascular technology training program. Must be registered or registry eligible. Registry eligible must be registered within 6 months of hire. - Graduate from a diagnostic ultrasound training program (2-4 years) - On the job training is accepted if already registered
  • American Heart Association (BLS)
  • One of the following: American Registry for Radiology Technologist (ARRT-VS) American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS- RVT) Cardiovascular Credentialing International (RVS) Registry eligible (must be registered within 6 months of hire)

Responsibilities

  • Prepares a summary of technical findings for interpretation by vascular surgeons and provides preliminary interpretations to ordering physician.
  • Promotes a positive work environment, collaborates with all members of the patient care team.
  • Guides and mentor’s Vascular ultrasound students to help build confidence in skills, knowledge and abilities.
  • Uses peer-to-peer accountability towards department goals for retention and employee engagement.
  • Utilizes verbal, nonverbal & written communication to achieve mutual understanding.
  • Optimizes protocols to provide better patient care, image quality and patient experience.
  • Utilizes AIDET and comply with job role, department and hospital safety standards, practices and policies.
  • Reports near misses and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends.
  • Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions or potential outcomes, as appropriate.
  • Ensures all imaging equipment has had quality control (QC) performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use.
  • Assists with implementation and education of department-based safety initiatives and standards of practice.
  • Use resources efficiently; does not waste supplies. Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks.
  • Participates in special departmental projects, initiatives or shared governance activities.
