About The Position

Under general supervision, promotes effective laboratory function and tests quality in the administration and performance of various noninvasive vascular blood flow tests. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs noninvasive ultrasound examinations of the cerebral, peripheral, and abdominal vessels using continuous wave Doppler, duplex ultrasound machines, and related equipment to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disorders affecting circulation. Records and maintains test data and prepares preliminary interpretations of test results. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Reviews charts prior to beginning test. Discusses concerns with physician. Educates, listens, and responds to patients needs during test. Assists with back office duties as needed within the practice. Communicates patient results under physician direction. Keeps credentials up current.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
  • Graduation from an AMA approved program in diagnostic ultrasound technology, preferred.
  • Certification as a registered vascular technologist (RVT), preferred, or certification eligibility.
  • Must have certification within a year of employment.
  • Minimum of one year work experience performing vascular ultrasound testing.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, vascular lab practices, operation of specialized ultrasound and vascular blood flow testing and related equipment, as well as universal safety precautions.
  • Knowledge of how to evaluate arterial wave forms and tests in general.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional technical experience in a hospital setting preferred.
