About The Position

Austin Heart, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Vascular Technician to perform non-invasive hemodynamic evaluations and write test results. The role involves conducting vascular ultrasonic procedures, scheduling patients, explaining procedures, positioning patients, conducting scanning procedures, taking patient history, maintaining equipment, and ensuring all exams are complete. The technician will also adhere to all Physician Services policies and procedures and maintain a positive attitude while working effectively under stress.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year experience as an ultrasound technologist/sonographer.
  • Must hold one or more of the following credentials: Registered Vascular Tech, Registered Cardiac Sonographer, or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in accordance with state regulation and clinical specialty.
  • Must have certification through ARDMS or ARRT.
  • Knowledge of vascular sonography.
  • Sufficient knowledge of anatomy and physiology pertaining to vascular examinations.
  • Skill in problem solving.
  • Skill in organization.
  • Skill in taking vital signs.
  • Skill in using basic office equipment, including computer, telephone, photocopier, and fax machine.
  • Ability to operate ultrasound equipment in vascular lab.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and work effectively under stress.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally.

Responsibilities

  • Perform vascular ultrasonic procedures as directed by physicians.
  • Schedule patients for procedures.
  • Explain procedures to patients to assure cooperation and optimum test results.
  • Position patients and select the appropriate transducer.
  • Conduct scanning procedures using ultrasound equipment by moving scanner over specified body area and adjusting equipment to focus.
  • Perform exams properly and in a timely manner.
  • Take patient history and retrieve previous files.
  • Coordinate patient flow and check daily list to ensure all exams are complete.
  • Maintain equipment.
  • Order and stock all supplies.
  • Maintain department records, reports, and files.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Read, understand, and adhere to all Physician Services policies and procedures.
  • Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct and Mission and Values statements.
