About The Position

A Registered Vascular Sonographer is responsible for performing non-invasive vascular procedures including but not limited to: Extracranial Cerebrovascular Duplex, Upper and Lower Extremity Venous Duplex, Upper and Lower Extremity Arterial Duplex, Lower Extremity Physiologic Arterial Study, Upper Extremity Physiologic Arterial Study (TOS, Cold), Bypass Graft Surveillance, Dialysis Access Duplex Evaluation, Upper and Lower Extremity Vein Mapping, Abdominal Aorto-iliac Duplex, Mesenteric Duplex, Renal Duplex, Transcranial Doppler (non-imaging). Preparing workload for the day. Good communication skills. Knowledge of computers. Follow established lab protocols and participate in on going Quality Assurance as well as on going research projects. Participate in a rolling after hours emergency call. The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to perform comprehensive non-invasive cardiovascular studies for the age of patients seen in the Vascular Lab at Erlanger Medical Center. Ability to perform diagnostic procedures as ordered, and to assess the need for additional information as warranted by patient's condition. Responsible for completing accurate measurements and the procedure worksheet for physician to interpret the images. Ability to interact effectively and professionally with physicians, and those who utilize services, i.e. nursing units and with patients. Takes initiative to continuously increase level of understanding and knowledge in the sonographer's specialty area, disease processes and new procedures as they evolve. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures. This is done through evaluation of direct supervisor by direct observation, in a skills review lab and/or by self assessment based on objective criteria that is reviewed and validated.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a CAAHEP or CMA approved school of ultrasound or vascular technology education program and considered registry eligible by the ARDMS.
  • ARDMS Registered, RVT
  • BLS prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward

Nice To Haves

  • Registered Vascular Technologist through the ARDMS
  • Medical and/or hospital clinical experience.
  • Registered Vascular Technologist with one year previous experience in medical and/or hospital clinical setting.
  • Basic computer experience demonstrated by either 1 to 2 years work experience or college level courses.
