About The Position

Under the direction of the vascular lab manager and medical director, the Vascular Sonographer performs all vascular lab exams. Provides quality patient care using vascular lab physiological and ultrasound equipment. Assists with clinical rotations in both in-patient and out-patient settings as the schedule dictates and participates in after hours and on-call services. Requirements

  • Education - Associate degree. Graduate of a formal/Director approved radiology or sonography program
  • Experience - One (1) year vascular sonography experience performing non-invasive vascular lab studies. Clinical rotations during a formal educational program may be considered as experience.
  • In Lieu Of In lieu of the minimum requirements noted above, f ive (5) years of dedicated vascular lab experience may be considered. Team members employed in this job on 11/08/2020 are grandfathered under prior educational and experience requirements. Team members employed in this job prior to July 1, 2020, are grandfathered under prior educational and experience requirements. In addition, grandfathered team members must be certification eligible and will have one year to obtain required certification(s).
  • Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses ARDMS- RVT or CCI(RVS)
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Proficient in the use of office equipment.
  • Proficient computer skills (word processing)
  • Knowledge of vascular anatomy and hemodynamics
  • Medical terminology preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic and intermediate vascular lab studies.
  • Performs vascular lab procedures using independent judgement during the exam to accurately differentiate between normal and abnormal findings.
  • Exams must follow IAC approved scanning protocol, and the Smart Protocols must be utilized when possible.
  • Reviews images and paperwork to ensure quality exams are complete, thorough and prepared for review by reading physicians.
  • Participates in the daily workflow by watching the technologist worklist to ensure timely patient care.
  • Schedules exams through the transport system if applicable.
  • Participates in the Vascular Lab after hours, on-call, weekend and holiday schedules.
  • Operates all vascular lab testing equipment and software packages including but not limited to ultrasound and physiological equipment, EMR and Structured Reporting and PACS.
  • Proficient in the use of telephone, printers, and fax machines.
  • Reports any equipment issues to the appropriate personnel and removes equipment from service.
  • Cleans the equipment and work areas daily and stocks rooms with supplies and linen.
  • Performs monthly deep cleaning of equipment and maintains appropriate logs.
  • Attends staff and departmental meetings as well as educational conferences.
  • Participates in the discussions.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in the field and participates in collecting data, images and articles as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
